Welcome to the White Mountain Publications Newsletter July 14, 2012
Please fell free to spread the word. We're excited about what we are doing, and we hope you will be as well.
It's not my place to announce, but since you all have been so supportive I wanted you to know that the Highway Book Shop has been sold---to someone else-- as of Friday June 29th.
While my people were maneuvering to get the best possible price by taking their time, a brother and sister, one from Montreal and the other from out east, swooped in and bought it. I don't know their plans.
We are confident that all things happen for a reason, and we'll be watching to see what the reason is this time. In the meantime, we've been busy. (What a surprise.) The list of Highway Book Shop titles we were able to rescue last year is here
Early Farm Implements is a beautiful, full-colour, pictorial capture of the early farm machinery the helped to carve out the farms we take for granted today. This is the third pictorial book from Dave Hanes who tells me he is already working on another. It's available now.
Slices of Temiskaming and its French twin Tableaux du Témiskaming both by Laura Landers collect her well-known watercolour painting from the Temiskaming area into one place to give us Laura's unique view of the area. They have gone to press, and will be available mid-August 2012. For the pre-publication discount offer, use the PDFon these pages. This could be quitre challenging because I am not fluent in French although I can usually understand it. So if people are calling in with orders in French, it should prove most interesting.
The 2013 Canadian Writers' Contest Calendar pre-publication offer is posted both by PDF mail in and through the PayPal buttons, and advance demand has been stronger than ever. Apparently writers use their summer vacations to research and write... Good show.
Upcoming Prison of Self by Verna J Bryan is a fascinating account from her diary kept from July 23, 1998 until March 30, 2000 of her experience teaching the Faith to inmates of the Niagara Ontario Detention Centre. It will also be available as an e-book soon thereafter.
Try to enjoy some of the summer for me.
